Artist Page-Amanda Duggan

Amanda's work currently explores the concept of layers, both emotional and physical. She is drawn to the imperfect and the beauty of the often disregarded, overlooked or abandoned. Imperfections and mistakes are part of accepting the natural progression of time. These themes are reflected through lengthy experimentation using a wide variety of materials, creating tension between ceramic form and surface. Amanda is the creator of and designer for 'Beatrice & Betty' making 'perfectly imperfect porcelain paraphernalia' from her studio in Wiltshire. Each piece whether designed to be worn or for the home, carefully combines fragments of porcelain with found or discarded objects, vintage fabrics and natural materials. Amanda was a Teacher of Art and ceramics for 18 years before more recently deciding to pursue a full time career in ceramics.
