Tier 2

Welcome to the era of Tier 2, pottery friends! Sadly, this term does not refer to a tall, delicious cake.

Happily though, in Tier 2,”… activities, such as hobby groups… classes can continue to take place, provided that different households or support bubbles do not mix.”

So long as your booked group is all one bubble, you can still come to your tree and ornament workshops – but please let me know if you’d prefer an alternative arrangement; we’ve got a few good options prepped.

The studio will be reopening, as of tomorrow, for continuing students (welcome back folks I MISSED YOU!!!). Just drop me a line for when you’re ready to pick up again – I’ve kept all your time slots as they were, but you’re free to change, as always!

I’m still making every effort to keep the studio safe: masks and face shields, sanitising, airflow and keeping folks’ materials separate. It’s still going to be awhile before we can have big group classes… but thanks everyone for your support and faith to keep us going through these times. Our combined strength is truly awe-inspiring.

Love ya’ll, stay strong and safe,
Eli

Lockdown Again

Dear friends! With another Lockdown looming, I will be closing the pottery to the public (for lessons/ visits) until the government lifts restrictions. Folks who booked November workshops: I’ll be in touch soon to figure out how to adapt. Virtual lessons can be arranged for ongoing students – let me know your project needs, and I’ll get you tools and supplies so we can remote clay play (you’ll have to find your own wine, though…). I’ll still be working by myself at the studio so yes, I can fire pots! Clay kits and gallery good are shipping as normal, so you don’t have to suffer pottery deprivation… Sorry we have to be separated, but glad to do anything to make sure we ALL get through this. Love you all, and see you on the other side!

We’re excited to offer some Saturday light sessions, starting in September. Bring your family or bubble group members, and come get your hands dirty for an hour – they’re a tenner per person, and your project will be ready to collect the following week. There’s room for four folks per session (social distancing in mind), and several time slots throughout the day – we’ll do a thorough cleaning of the space/equipment in between.

Fancy one of these projects, but can’t make it in person? They’re also available as Clay Kits; included in the box is everything you need to make at home, and a voucher for later firing at the studio.

Doors Open, Ready for Clay Play!

Ready for Clay Adventures!

After much thought, research, and discussion with colleagues, we made a plan to reopen the studio, as safely as possible. It won’t be quite as we imagined before – no drop in sessions, and sadly no wild mud flinging parties, for now…

We can, however, allow single students/family units in the studio, capping the number of bookings, so that we can clean between each lesson. I’ll be wearing my jolly mask, and encourage you to do so, as well. Let’s clay safe, friends!

Check out our:

Grab a kit, or purchase your pass and book your slot(s), and come have fun!

From now through the month of August the coupon code CLAYPLAY will get you 10% off kits, passes and sessions. Give the gift of mud, to yourself or someone you REALLY like… (but make sure you really like them because nothing says I love you like mudflinging!)

Also happening here on the farm: the Best Ever Brownie Company and Fluffy Puffin are selling onsite, and we have a stunning new seating area outside. Come say hi, and have a coffee (milkshake, in this heat!!) and enjoy fresh air and sunshine.

For you independent clayists nearby, we are still taking in work for firing. Contact us if you’ve got a backlog of greenware – we can do shelves, whole kiln loads, or pieces at a cm3 rate.

Wishing you all a delightful weekend!

Stay-At-Home Clay Kits, Ready to Ship

How is it May already? It’s glorious outside, and the bird are singing…

And we’re still more locked down than not. But it’s never boring at the pottery – and you can get in on the joy, too, with one of our kits.

One of our main goals, in taking on the studio, was to create a welcoming community space. Sadly, we haven’t been able to, so far. As disappointing as that may be, we’re deeply proud and impressed by everyone’s efforts to keep us all safe, and we’re still determined to help folks get their clay on in whatever ways we can.

We’ve developed some clay-at-home kits, suitable for young and old. Included in each is everything you’ll need for a fun afternoon’s mudslinging: clay, tools, templates, instructions, and a voucher for later firing of your finished projects! Choose from birdhouse, rattle shaker, tumbler style cup, or a trio of tiles to carve. If you’re nervous about undertaking it alone, you can add a private (online) lesson onto your kit, at a discounted rate – we’re looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Shipping to you is free, and since you were kind enough to read this far, here’s a coupon code for 10% off your order of kits from our website: SUMMERSUN

For you independent clayists nearby, we are still taking in work for firing. Contact us if you’ve got a backlog of greenware – we can do whole kiln loads, or pieces at a cm3 rate.

Wishing you all a delightful weekend!

Hang in there,
Eli
